Around Town is a multi-issue zine series that showcases how local business owners use Square while positioning the brand as design-forward and rooted in the neighborhoods it serves. Originally intended as a brochure, the project was developed into an editorial series that brought together commerce and community in a format that felt at home on the counter of any shop it featured.

To transition from a traditional marketing asset into a collectible publication, we leaned into the tactile nature of the zine format. The zine serves as a community-driven piece of media that sellers are proud to display and share. This format allowed us to prioritize local storytelling, using photography and expressive typography to mirror the unique character of each neighborhood. By treating the content as an editorial series rather than a sales tool, we reinforced Square’s role as a partner in the local economy.
