Service Still Matters
Square debuted in Australia in 2016, but the category has changed significantly since then. With more competitors leading with product-heavy messages and hardware that mirrors our own, we saw an opportunity to lead with emotion. Working with the Melbourne-based agency Sunday Gravy, we centered this campaign on a simple truth: you can have all the tools in the world, but at the end of the day, service still matters.
We developed a visual theme where Square takes a back seat, playing a quiet, supporting role to what matters most to restaurant owners: service. For the design system, we introduced a warm, off-white background to provide a more grounded, human feel. For photography, by placing Square products in the foreground but keeping them out of focus, we visually reinforced that the technology exists only to support the craft of hospitality.
This approach scaled from OOH into a high-performing landing page where we lead with the human act before introducing the tool. The strategy is performing well, with strong scroll depth numbers proving that the audience finds our content valuable enough to stay engaged beyond the hero module.
